- States and markets in the international system, their role, significance and interaction
- Globalization: current issues and historical developments
- Developmental challenges and developmental aid
- The new global international economic system: challenges and opportunities
- Multinational companies, factor mobility, capital flows, immigration flows, market integration and interdependence
- Contemporary issues in global economic governance, global public goods, environmental challenges
- Regional integration issues
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the lectures, the students will be able to:
- Comprehend the complex, multidimensional nexus between politics and economics in the international system
- Be aware of the main schools of thought in international relations theory and their principal theses
- Understand the dynamic nexus between states (power) and markets (wealth) in the international system
- Comprehend the role of international economic organizations
- Have acquired a critical perspective of contemporary issues in the international system
- Critically discuss and analyze globalization
