Course Outline
Organizational behavior is the scientific field that emphasizes the understanding of employee behavior at an individual, group and organizational level, borrowing concepts and methods from different sciences, such as psychology, sociology, political science, and anthropology. Given that any type of organizations is made up of individuals and that they can form a solid basis for sustainable competitive advantage, this course aims at facilitating students understanding employees by familiarizing them with issues relating to:
- Key theories in organizational behavior
- Individual characteristics, values attitudes, perceptions and personality
- Group dynamics and team working
- Conflict management and resolution
- Effective communication
- Motivating employees
- Leadership, leadership styles and leader characteristics
- Effective management of organizational changes.
Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, participants are expected to be able to:
- understand and interpret the attitude and behavior of employees, at individual, group and organizational level
- identify the factors that affect employee and organizational performance
- identify the human-related challenges faced by organizations, executives and employees today
- realize the complexity of organizational change and their requirements
- communicate, collaborate, manage time and expose their ideas better than before.
