Dr. Stephanos Papadamou

Short C.V.

Dr. Stephanos Papadamou, was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 01/05/1974. He holds BSc. Applied Informatics in Economics from University of Macedonia of Thessaloniki, MSc. Project Analysis Finance and Investment from University of York UK, and a PhD on “Performance analysis of an international diversified portfolio composed by bonds, stocks and currencies” from University of Macedonia.

During 1999-2003 he was CEO of the Greek brokerage company Finaccor Analysis. He joined the Department of Economics at University of Thessaly in 2005 as a Lecturer. Currently, he is Professor in Economics of Money & Banking, in the Department of Economics at the University of Thessaly. He was director of the MSc Program in Applied Economics at the University of Thessaly for two years (2018-2020).

He has a significant teaching experience, more than 18 years, in undergraduate and postgraduate levels on International Banking and Finance, Investment Appraisal, Monetary Policy and Theory, Banking Strategies and Portfolio Management courses. He teaches relevant courses in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and Hellenic Open University. He participates in national and international research projects (e.g. PHARE, EUSECON, THALIS) and his writing and speaking skills in English and French are very good.

Currently he serves as the Co-Editor of the Bulletin of Economics Journal. His research interests include monetary policy, banking, capital markets, and behavioural financial economics. Recently have been focused on the effect on unconventional monetary policy measures on foreign exchange, money and capital markets. He is the author of three textbooks in Greek:

  1. Portfolio Management: A contemporary approach, Gutenberg Editions, Athens 2009.
  2. Introduction to Banking and Capital Markets, Utopia Editions, Volos 2014 with C. Siriopoulos.
  3. Principles of Investment Appraisal: Α Financial and Socioeconomic Approach E-book 2015 with C. Siriopoulos.

Moreover, his works have been included in collective volumes, he participated as instructor in more than 30 conferences, and he has published over 100 papers in academic peer-reviewed international journals. More specifically, his papers has been published in high quality academic international journals such as  Journal of international Money and Finance, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, International Review of Financial Analysis, European Journal of Finance, International Review of Economics & Finance, European Journal of Political Economy, Southern Economic Journal, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Business Ethics, Eastern European Economics, Managerial Finance, Applied Financial Economics, Applied Economic Letters, Research in International Business and Finance, and many others.
