Dr. Ageliki Anagnostou is an Assistant Professor in Macroeconomic Theory and Policy at the Department of Economics, University of Thessaly, Greece. She holds a BA in Economics and Statistics from the University of Alberta, Canada, an MA in International Macroeconomics from the University of Liverpool, UK, and a PhD in Applied Econometrics of Financial Markets from the University of Sheffield, UK. Her doctoral research, titled "Modelling the Dynamic Behaviour of the Greek Stock & Foreign Exchange Markets: A Non-linear Time Series Approach," explored advanced econometric techniques for financial forecasting and investment strategies using non-linear models. Her primary research areas include macroeconomic theory, fiscal and monetary policy analysis, non-linear econometric modeling, and regional economic development. Her expertise spans macroeconomic modeling techniques such as the Regional HERMIN model, TERM model, CGE models, and Panel VAR Analysis.
She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, European Urban and Regional Studies, and Comparative Economic Studies, focusing on topics including regional disparities, monetary policy effects, and economic resilience. Additionally, she has co-authored chapters in edited volumes and presented research at international conferences. She actively collaborates on European research projects, having served as a Scientific Director and Principal Investigator in several EU-funded initiatives under Horizon 2020, INTERREG, and Erasmus+ programs, focusing on regional policy development, economic cohesion, and innovation ecosystems.
Dr. Anagnostou brings extensive teaching experience, offering courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Macroeconomic Analysis, Time Series Analysis, Regional Development & Policy, and Economic Growth. She also served as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Łódź, Poland, where she collaborated on fiscal policy research and taught Time Series Analysis and Economic Policy. Her mentorship extends to supervising PhD students in diverse research areas, including fiscal policy dynamics, cryptocurrency market behavior, and macroeconomic resilience in the Eurozone.
